As the Fernie saying goes “come for winter, stay for summer”. This was the case for Adam Simpson and Jason Sauve. Working seasonally at the hill for the first few years in Fernie, working in the trades was a logical move. Carpentry, due to it’s versatility was appealing for us, so that’s the trade we apprenticed. After finishing their apprenticeships, both Jason and Adam started their respective companies. After a few years of sole proprietorship, they decided to join forces, Sauve/Simpson, and S2 Builders Ltd was born.
Over the last few years Fernie has really been growing. With the Cedars, Montane, and Burma road development, plus all the renovations in town, builders have been busy. The building process is alway evolving, energy costs are going up and consumers are becoming more environmentally conscious looking for houses built efficiently with more sustainable materials. Building science is transforming how we build, and builders now understand how every part of the building works in synergy with the rest of the house. The trade is changing with ongoing training requirements, making builders much more knowledgeable and giving clients a better product. We love the challenge of the evolving industry and the versatility of our trade.
